The brief
This specialized high-voltage electrical contract involved the installation of new switchgear, control cables, and auxiliary power systems at the Mutundwe substation, a critical node in Uganda’s national grid. Our scope included laying over 5 kilometres of underground control and power cables, installation of protection relays, and integration with the existing SCADA system. Work was executed under strict safety rules for live substations, including permit-to-work systems and full isolation of affected circuits during installation. Our team completed all works with zero safety incidents and achieved all pre-commissioning tests on the first attempt. The substation upgrade has improved grid reliability for the greater Kampala metropolitan area.
