The brief
This multi-site project delivered complete primary school facilities to three rural communities: Bunjako and Kyaterekera in Lwengo District, and Ntebezza Ddungu in Rakai District.
Each school included four classroom blocks, a staff house (three bedrooms), a head teacher’s office, a kitchen store, and separate latrines for boys and girls. Construction used locally fired bricks and concrete ring beams to ensure durability and cost-effectiveness. Our project management team coordinated three separate site teams simultaneously, with weekly coordination meetings to ensure consistency of quality and materials.
Despite heavy rains during the foundation stage, we recovered lost time through extended working hours and weekend shifts, delivering all three schools within the contractual 10-month period. The schools now serve over 1,200 pupils combined.
Scope of Work
- 4 classroom blocks per school
- Staff house (3-bedroom)
- Head teacher’s office
- Kitchen store
- Separate boys’ & girls’ latrines
Location
Our team mobilized equipment and materials to a remote location with limited road access, requiring careful logistics planning. The project was completed during the dry season to avoid weather-related delays. Since handover, the market has become a vibrant economic hub, benefiting over 300 local vendors and improving food security and income generation in the sub-county.
